Cook Islands Weddings It is possible to get married in the Cook Islands on the beach or at a church. Most resorts and self-catering beach bungalows offer wedding packages and will arrange for a marriage celebrant , floral decorations and most of the paper work and documents. However, marriage licenses must be made in person and are obtainable from the Registrar of Marriages at Avarua on Rarotonga and take 3 days to process. Licenses cost $56 for a registrar marriage or $23 for church ministers. If a license is required in less than 3 days, an additional fee of $NZ45 will be required. Marriage certificates cost a further $12.
